An evergreen plant that forms an exotic shrub in moist but well-drained soils in full sun or shade. This plant has attractive glossy leaves and produces small cream-coloured flowers from May to July. Grows to 2m tall and 1.5m across.
It does very well in the mild Bristol climate but if a hard frost is predicted then it is worth putting a mulch around the plant's base. Our plants have been growing unprotected through the last three winters (2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/12) without any problems.
